French artist Born in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1939. Died in New York where he lived in 2008
He was known for his playful modernizations of old masters paintings. Associated with the Pop Art movement, he became the initiator of the Mec Art movement making use of mechanical processes and advertising cliches in photo screened works ( cf. his famous ” déjeuner sur l’herbe ” ).
