Born in 1969 in Tehran (Iran). Lives and works between Rome and Washington DC.
Khebrehzadeh creates a visual hybridity reflective of her own multifaceted identity.
Poetic, dreamlike, and full of ambiguity, the paintings, drawings, and animations of Avish Khebrehzadeh are born out of her experience as an immigrant.
In collaboration with Elisabetta Cipriani Gallery, she has created a limited edition of sunglasses enriched with details in precious decorative elements.
Spectacles such a mask or facial ornament are at the center of the artist’s recent work. “Our life is a mask, even against ourselves. It is neither visible nor tangible; it’s just there. We mock, ridicule, and are constantly transforming our masks in the presence of others.”
