Born in 1936 in Piraeus (Greece), died in 2017 in Rome (Italy)
Based in Rome since 1956. In 1963 he introduced found objects in his paintings.
In 1967 he became associated with Arte Povera, which brought together artists whose work was concerned with the space between art and life, and nature and culture.
In the 21st century, Kounellis has developed an increasingly architectural vocabulary, creating labyrinth environments that manipulate the exhibition space, the viewer’s experience and the materials that he has shown in his œuvre for decades.
This ring produced in collaboration with Elisabetta Cipriani is the mold of his lips!
