Giuseppe Penone
Born in 1947 in Garessio (Italy)
He was the youngest artist of the Arte Povera group in the 1960s.
He concentrates his artistic activity on the relationship between man and the natural world that surrounds him. His empathy toward nature, and in particular trees, inspires him to integrate the vegetal world into his sculptures. In 2011, he created the necklace Foglia (Leaf).
This piece is made up of a twenty-four-carat gold leaf on which the artist has printed the lines of his own hand, and then rolled around a bronze twig.
