Jaume Plensa
Born in 1955 in Barcelona (Spain). Lives and works in Barcelona.
As a young artist, he worked at the Henry Moore Foundation and in the Calder workshop in Saché. Today, his recurring themes are representations of the diversity of the human figure, and the languages that bind men together. Basically, what interests Plensa is the relationship between the word and the human body. His raw material are not those of a traditional sculptor. He eschews stone or bronze, instead preferring to use glass, resin, alabaster, light, sound, water, digital images and words. For Jaume Plensa, “sculpture ignores fiction. It is not a matter of materials but of emotion. It is not a matter of volume or space, but of time.”
