Louise Nevelson
Born in 1899 in Kiev (Russia), decaesed in 1988 in New York (USA)
She immigrated to Maine as a child from Ukraine.
Earned acclaim as part of the abstract expressionist movement by constructing crated assemblages full of found wooden items which were then grouped together into monochromatically-painted cubic structures.
Nevelson also cultivated her extravagant personal style which included long dresses, fake eye lashes, and impressive jewelry she made herself.
