Mimmo ROTELLA
Mimmo Rotella
Born in 1918 in Catanzaro (Italy), deceased in 2006 in Milano (Italy)
After abandoning abstract panting, Mimmo Rotella created his first “lacerated posters”: pamphlets torn off walls and blended into his canvases, often undergoing a second laceration in a “provocative gesture against society”.
Following his encounter with Pierre Restany in Paris, he joins the group of New Realists along side Raymond Hains, Jacques Villeglé and François Dufrêne. He created a limited edition of jewelry pieces with Marina Ruggieri Filippini in Verona.
